Welcome to Rwanda Travelers Guide

Visit Volcanoes National Park for a great and remarkable trekking experience.

The Volcanoes National Park protects the Rwandan section of the Virunga Mountains and is contiguous with the Mgahinga National Park in Uganda. The mountains are linked by fertile saddles, formed by lava flows, and are one of the most striking sights in East Africa.
While most tourists to the park are understandably driven by the desire to have a face to face encounter with real gorillas in the mist, there is good reason to stay in the area once you have finished tracking. The gorillas share the park with a troop of rare golden monkeys, which are slowly being habituated to human contact. The virungas which tower over Rwanda, Uganda and Democratic Republic Congo, also present a variety of rewarding climbing and trekking options.

This park lies in North Western Rwanda. It borders Virunga National park in Democratic Republic of Congo and Mgahinga Gorilla National park in Uganda.Although it was the base for the zoologist Dian fossey,Volcanoes National Park is famous for its endangered mountain gorillas and golden monkeys.

It covers an area of about 160km2 in the Rain forest and Bamboo and also a home of five of the eight Volcanoes of the Virunga mountains. It is full of impressive Tropical rainforest, Volcanic scenery and offers extraordinary sights, but the only thing that captures the minds of the tourists are the Gorillas.
